Event Summary.
About the evening
The Norwegian Olaf Gulbransson was a kind of “primal animal” as a person who loved nature and all its creatures. He recognized people's innermost beings, also by drawing them. A brilliant artist and, like every person, contradictory – privately, artistically, politically. He was born in 1873 in what is now Oslo. Successful with his first works in Norwegian satirical magazines, he was brought to “Simplicissimus” in Munich by publisher Albert Langen in 1902 and lived for many years high above Lake Tegernsee, where he died in 1958. Gerd Holzheimer, among others Author of a Gerhard Polt biography, he described the powerhouse so sensitively that after reading it you feel like you know Gulbransson personally.
Gerd Holzheimer, born in Munich in 1950, holds a doctorate in literature, was a high school teacher in Gräfelfing and a lecturer at the University of Munich, has been a freelance author and journalist for many years, leads literary excursions, is the founder of the “Literarischer Herbst” series and editor of the magazine “Literatur in Bavaria".
