ABOUT
On the current events in Gaza
On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists brutally attacked villages around the Gaza Strip. Rockets attacked Israeli cities in swarms. The Jewish state immediately struck back, the military entered Gaza, and thousands of Palestinians lost their lives. A conflict that has been simmering for generations without a solution has once again come into the spotlight of world public opinion. Can the warring parties ever come together? The television journalist Susanne Glass analyzes the current situation in the Israel-Gaza war and highlights the role of the Arab states and the major powers in global political poker. The Hamas attack affected her personally because she still has many friends and acquaintances in Israel and Gaza. After around 25 years as a crisis and war reporter, most recently in the Middle East, she is concerned with the question of how to bring people with different truths and narratives together for a constructive dialogue.
Dr. Susanne Glass, born in 1970, studied political science, economics and sociology. After completing her studies, she worked as a journalist at Bayerischer Rundfunk since 1994, first on radio and later on television. In 1999 she went to civil war-torn Kosovo as a reporter, then to Vienna as a correspondent for eleven Southeast European countries. From 2016 to 2021 she reported for ARD from Tel Aviv. Today she heads the “Foreign and Political Background” department at Bayerischer Rundfunk.
